Lianna van der Zalm (she/her) is part of the process engineering team at Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions (VWTS) specializing in anaerobic digestion technologies. She completed her degree at the University of Guelph in Biological Engineering focusing on bioreactor design. Her passion for sustainability is demonstrated in her work at VWTS through projects that contribute to waste reduction, renewable energy production, clean water and lower greenhouse gas emissions.
Alex Waite is the Supervising Civil Engineer for the City of Santa Monica’s Water Resources Division. In his role, he oversees the design, construction, and optimization of the City’s drinking water, wastewater, and recycled water systems to implement the City’s goal of water self-sufficiency. Alex is a registered Professional Engineer in California and is also co-chair for the California-Nevada AWWA Recycled Water and Desalination Committee and Vice President of the WateReuse California Los Angeles Chapter.
Katie Peach has a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario. She has over 10 years of experience in the water and wastewater industry, and is Veolia’s Leader for Potable and Advanced Reuse, working with customers to create sustainable water sources through water recycling solutions. She is a 2021 graduate of the WEF Water Leadership Institute program, and a member of the WEF Water Reuse Committee.
